Vehicle Excise Duty

Thanks to the National Caravan Councils campaign, the recent hike in Vehicle excise duty for new motorhomes has been reversed. The Vehicle Excise Duty payable for new generation motorhomes and campervans first registered after 1 September 2019 was increased from £265 per year to up to £2135 in the first year, and then £465 for the subsequent five years. From today, the government has reduced annual VED liabilities for most new motorhomes to a flat rate of £265, rising to £270 for 2020-21. This is great news for consumers who were faced with a ridiculous 705% increase in vehicle excise duty over 2019 rates.
